The UK and France have reached an agreement aimed at reducing irregular migrant crossings in the English Channel. This initiative outlines a three-year roadmap for enhanced cooperation between the two nations.

As part of the agreement, France plans to significantly increase its coastal policing efforts, raising the number of officers dedicated to this task to 1,400 by the year 2029. This represents an increase of over 50%.

The UK is expected to contribute additional resources to support these efforts, although specific details regarding the nature of this support have not been disclosed.
